Blooming Tea

Blooming (or flowering) tea is made by wrapping dried tea leaves around a dried flower.  When steeped, the tea leaves expand to reveal the inside flower much in the same way that a blooming flower in nature would.

Flowering tea is best served in a glass tea pot so that the blooming flower can be observed easily.  To brew, bring water almost to a boil and pour into a glass teapot.  Drop one flowering bulb into the tea pot and watch as it expands, steeping for approximately 5 minutes.  Bulbs can be steeped 2 to 3 times without the tea becoming bitter!

Flowering teas make a great gift and are a longer lasting alternative to a bouquet of flowers!
